Embracing equity and inclusion at Dufrain

In light of this year’s International Women’s Day theme of #embraceequity, the Dufrain team has created several events to raise awareness and celebrate International Women’s Day through our internal networks. From an informative talk from Diversity Scotland to lunches, a quiz and sharing stories of inspiring figures, this week is designed to bring our offices together in celebration of the contributions of women.

Since its formation, Empower has strengthened our culture and ensured the representation of our Dufrainian women. It has also had significant benefits on our wider culture as a whole. I am excited about what the next 12 months and beyond bring!”

Of course, diverse experiences and cultures are an essential part of our organisation. Our culture is one of learning and continuously looking for ingenious and progressive ways of working internally, as well as for our clients. To do this we celebrate the contributions and achievements of every team member both in and outside of Dufrain. To enable this, we ensure that everyone in Dufrain is provided with the same resources and opportunities. Our end objectives are to enable our Dufrainians to get busy living, enhance our culture and deliver exceptional services to our clients.

Here is a small insight into Dufrain’s engagement, well-being and inclusivity networks.


People engagement and wellbeing

All our networks reside under the umbrella of our people engagement and wellbeing team, which helps our Dufrainians to stay involved and engaged in initiatives that support a variety of areas from mental health and inclusivity to volunteering and charitable events. They stay up-to-date and curious about employee concerns and strive to ensure everyone feels part of the business.
Activities include:

  • Walk All Over Cancer fundraiser
  • Ramadan series
  • Fantasy Football League
  • Movember
  • Virtual Bake Off
  • FIFA World Cup sweepstake
  • Winter volunteering with Single Homeless Project.

Empower

International Women’s Day

An internal network which has led a number of events around International Women’s Day is Empower. As the name suggests, it aims to empower women to achieve success and provide a supportive community within Dufrain to network and share knowledge and experience. This International Women’s Day, there will be events across our three offices and virtually, alongside shared resources, talks, a quiz and sharing stories of inspiring figures.

Empower meets every week and the community shares knowledge and insights, helping to direct Dufrain’s efforts to empower women within our organisation. Empower is open to anyone in the business who is passionate about encouraging women to feel confident at work and take on new challenges, as well as demonstrating externally that working in STEM is an excellent choice for women. We are proud that Empower ensures women in Dufrain can share their experiences and advice in confidence.
Recent activities for Empower include:

  • Tommy’s cocktail night
  • Coffee mornings
  • Speaker session on ‘imposter syndrome’

PRISM

PRISM

PRISM is Dufrain’s newest internal network offering support to our LGBTQ+ Dufrainians by educating the wider team and promoting LGBTQ+ topics and initiatives. PRISM’s exciting 2023 roadmap includes blogs, knowledge-sharing initiatives and events. We look forward to showcasing what is planned for the year ahead soon!


Dufrain champions diversity and inclusion and as the business grows, each of our communities will continue to evolve at the centre. There is real excitement around all the future events and resources that are emerging as part of our efforts towards an equitable and inclusive workplace.
