A Leading Smart Infrastructure Provider
Unified Data: From fragmented data to an AI-Ready platform
the challenge
One of the UK’s leading smart infrastructure organisations was collecting huge volumes of fragmented data from thousands of sites
This included CCTV, ANPR, ticketing and permit systems — yet the information was siloed, fragmented and underused.
Their existing Azure-based architecture was slow, reliant on manual processes and unable to support real-time analytics or AI. To unlock the full value of their data, they needed a single, unified platform to power intelligence, innovation and growth.

the solution
Partnering with Dufrain, the organisation selected Microsoft Fabric as the foundation for a new unified data platform. By consolidating data from more than 20 external providers and proprietary systems into one common data model, we created a single, trusted environment for analytics and innovation.
The platform introduced role-based access, logical data relationships and scalable architecture, transforming fragmented, site-level reporting into a consolidated view of performance across all locations. With a medallion data architecture in place, high-quality, curated data was made available for downstream BI and AI use cases.
the outcome
The unified platform enabled the business to shift from reactive reporting to predictive, AI-driven decision-making. Enhanced Power BI dashboards provided richer insights across multiple sites, helping leaders identify trends, optimise pricing and manage capacity.
Building on this foundation, the organisation used Azure AI Foundry to deploy intelligent agents capable of anomaly detection, automated insights and outcome prediction, capabilities that had previously been out of reach.
The platform not only improved operations and opened new revenue streams, but also positioned the company as a data-mature, innovation-focused leader in the infrastructure market.
Scalability was built in from day one, allowing new data sources, AI models and use cases to be added rapidly as the business evolves.
